Training Our Daughters to be Keepers at 🏡
This is the name of a home economics course for 11-17 year old girls. It's a great plan and I'm excited to start this with my oldest DD in the fall. Each year has a Biblical study subject for young ladies, and a number of practical skills to learn: various aspects of sewing, cooking, knitting and crochet, gardening, basket making, soap and candle making, greeting cards, flower arranging, hospitality, financial management, dealing with those who are sick or grieving, a unit on childbearing and breastfeeding...for you homesteaders out there it seems to be a wonderful resource for having a systematic way to teach/learn these skills. Just thought I would share this treasure!

Wow, that sounds pretty comprehensive!

I'm sure that my daughter would enjoy something like that, though I would have to import help for some areas, since I don't make soap or candles, don't make baskets, and can't crochet or knit.

~Ruth, wife to Tim since 11/6/05 and WAHM to Hannah (10), Micah (8), and Abigail (5)

I don't make candles, soap, or baskets either but they give instructions or info for resources to learn and I hope to learn as much as she does!

I'll have to check into that! With 3 daughters I think they would have fun doing it together.
