Baby Names
We are having a boy but can not agree on a name. DH has been leaning towards short one syllable names mainly biblical. I do not want to have a short name for our son when dd has such a long name (9 letters, 3 syllables), I also want to avoid names that are too common and I want to have optional nicknames for him like dd does.
When we were picking a name for dd, I suggested Nathaniel but DH vetoed it then but now he suggested it (it is too common)  I came across Dathan in the Bible (numbers) but I do not like how Dathaniel sounds and not sure I like the nicknames like Date vs Nate which I liked. Plus I think since Nathaniel is so popular that he would be correct people all the time. Or having to say "my name is Dathaniel with a D"

Here are some of the names on his list (I would not mind some of these names but I would rather use them as a nickname, not his full name)

Abner
Barrett
Hogan
Holden
Issac
Ryker
Titus
Vaughan
Zane

Here are some of my suggestions (I can not find a nickname for these that we both agree on)

Hezekiah
Nehemiah
Fredrick

Open to suggestions on other names. Trying to avoid using my nieces or nephews names or names that start with E K C or M.

Thank you
Kay

If youngest DD had been a boy, we would have named her Silas Jude. I still love that name and would still use it if somehow we happened to have another boy.

Silas and Jude are both nice short names, I have had a few daycare boys named Silas. It is ranked 120ish last year and it keeps getting more popular.
Jude would be a great nickname if I could find a longer name to shorten it from. But all I can think of is Judith which is a female name.

I have a Jakob (who goes by Jake at school) and my youngest is Zakariah .  My hubby wanted a Zak and Zachary is a really popular name.  in our kids school there is about 1200+ kids in preschool to grade 12.  there are only 3 Zakariahs...and the other 2 are spelt Zachariah.

I love the name Zachariah but we have a  nephew named Zachary.
